Mission: PEACE Plan

At RFC, "using our gifts to make earth more like Heaven" describes our missions philosophy perfectly. In a broken world, bringing shalom -- the Hebrew word for wholeness, peace -- is the essencen of our mission.

MISSIONS PHILOSOPHY

WE FOCUS ON PEACE

Our focus on missions is on combating 5 “global giants”: spiritual darkness, corrupt leadership, extreme poverty, pandemic disease and lack of basic health/needs, and illiteracy. To fight and combat these five areas, we organize our missions around The PEACE PLAN:

P - Promote wholistic spiritual reconciliation

E - Equip servant leaders

A - Assist the poor

C - Care for the sick and help develop holistic health

E - Educate & evangelize the next generation

JESUS IS OUR MODEL

Missions is a priority at RFC because it was a priority for Jesus and He commanded and empowered us to be his missionaries (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:16-20). We believe that missions flows from our life together as a community and is based on joyful giving to the work of God in our world.

THE MACEDONIAN CHURCH IS OUR INSPIRATION (Acts 8:1-5)

Our commitment and generosity towards missions comes from our joyful hearts.

We engage missions as a community, fostering trust and relationships together “as we go”. We believe that missions is part of our discipleship and what it means to follow Jesus and grow closer to God.

WE VALUE THE LOCAL CHURCH

We prioritize the local church in the work of missions.

WE VALUE BOTH LOCAL & GLOBAL MISSIONS

We strive to balance missions locally, regionally & globally.

WE VALUE PARTNERSHIPS

We value long-term partnerships in missions over and above short-term or one-time projects. In addition to Strategic Missions Partner Agencies, we strive to partner with other churches, NGO’s, businesses, and faith communities in our missions work. We partner with groups that meet the following criteria: followers of Jesus who share our commitment to our common purpose as well as our values of inclusivity, progressive Christianity and egalitarianism.

WE VALUE RESPONSIVENESS

We want to meet real needs in real time and therefore will continue to support, in addition to our strategic missions partners, disaster relief, one-time projects, and special offerings to address specific issues and causes.

WE VALUE LIFE-CHANGE

Our metric for evaluating the success of missions is “transformed lives”.

WE VALUE SUSTAINABLE CHANGE & EMPOWERMENT

Rather than focus on giving direct aid, we strive to empower and equip communities to become sustainable and developed in their cultural context.
